Use of Spectrophotometer in Dentistry

Online study group session with Dr Julie Assous.

What you will cover

Live online study group session with Dr Julie Assous on the use of spectrophotometers in dentistry.

Tooth shade matching has long relied on subjective tools – shade guides and photographs that vary between observers, often at a real cost to whitening outcomes. This talk introduces spectrophotometry as a way to turn that impression into an objective, reproducible number: the optical principle behind the device, its probe, and the Lab* coordinates it measures. Seven clinical cases will show how to read and anticipate a tooth’s colour, and how objective measurements can steer whitening over time and pinpoint exactly when to stop – all with just a spreadsheet, no complex software required.
